BENNETTSVILLE — The Richmond Senior girls soccer team exploded for a season-high in goals in a 9-0 rout of Marlboro County, S.C. Wednesday night in Bennettsville.
Seven Raiders notched goals, led by Nile Fisher and Cherie Ellerbe, who each scored two. Brittney McDonald, Alexie Coble, Hanna Rodriquez, Holly Hudson and Lashonda York all added a goal.
“We played pretty well,” Richmond coach Bennie Howard said. “A lot of people played and in different positions tonight. We know what it’s like to lose 8-0 or 9-0, so we didn’t want to run it up.”
The Raiders improve to 2-2 on the season. They will return to action 6 p.m. Monday when the Bulldogs visit Raider Stadium.
“We were able to knock the ball around,” Howard said. “I know there’s a difference between Pinecrest and Marlboro, but if you can pass it around against one team, you should be able to do it against the other.”
