Mrs. Ruby Slayton Watlington, 92, of 603 Cherry St., Hamlet died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Pinehurst. She was born April 15, 1920 in Pittsylvania County, VA, a daughter of the late Gordon and Oma Hayes Slayton.
Mrs. Watlington was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and sang in the choir. She was a bank teller, retiring with Southern National Bank. She was a member of the Hamlet Book Club.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Thursday, February 14th with Rev. Scott Conner officiating. Entombment will follow in Richmond Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:45 pm at the church.
Mrs. Watlington is survived by two sons, Ray Cobb and wife Lela of Rockingham and Michael Cobb and wife Charlene of Pinehurst; and one granddaughter, Debbie O’Neal and husband Mark of Rockingham. Mrs. Watlington was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Watlington and three sisters.
