A check-off referendum will be held on Jan. 23 in each flue-cured producing county in North Carolina.

Flue-cured tobacco growers will vote on their continuance of their support of the self-help plan of promoting flue-cured tobacco by Tobacco Associates, Inc. for the marketing years 2013, 2014 and 2015.

The referendum will be conducted by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service. Polling places will be open during normal business hours at each flue-cured producing County Extension office. The referendum will include the question of continuance of the authorization of annual assessments not to exceed one-fifth of one cent per pound.

The Richmond County Cooperative Extension Office is located at 123 Caroline St., Suite 100 in Rockingham. The office can be reached at 910-997-8255.
