Mr. Watson B. Jones, 89, of Hamlet died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Born January 8, 1923 in Franklin Springs, Georgia, a son of Byon Allen Jones and Geneva Lee Jones; Mr. Jones was retired from CSX Railway, having served as an electrician for 38 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Italian Campaign with the 34th Infantry Division, United States Army.

A service to celebrate Mr. Jones’ life will be conducted graveside with military honors at 2:00PM Saturday, December 15th in Mary Love Cemetery in Hamlet with Rev. Joe Wilkes officiating. The family will receive friends beginning 1 hour prior to the service at Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet.

Mr. Jones is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Edith Morris Jones; a son, Glenn Morris Jones; grandchildren, Nicole Jones Wilkes and husband Joe Wilkes, Nicholas Jones, Jennifer Jones, Grace Jones, and Annie Lunsford; great grandchildren, Gage and Tate Jones, and Noah Wilkes; daughters-in-law, Janet Jones, Michiko Jones and Robin Ward; and two sisters, Ruby Jones and Grace Stewart. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Allan Jones and Owen Vernon Jones.
