A local man has been arrested after allegedly shooting his girlfriend in the face, around 4 a.m. Sunday in Rockingham, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Camerino Camargo Flores, 35, of 104 Lindsey Drive, Rockingham, was arrested for 1st degree attempted murder when the Hamlet Police Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office in his apprehension at a local restaurant in Hamlet, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“Tips of Flores’ whereabouts received by deputies led to the arrest,” said Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mark Gulledge on Monday.

A verbal altercation between Flores and 22-year-old girlfriend, Jessica Price, led Flores to producing a handgun and shooting Price in the face, according to the incident report.

“She ran to a residence on Wiregrass Road where someone called 911 for her,” said Gulledge. “When officers arrived, he had already fled the scene.”

Price was transported by EMS to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, according to the report, and was treated for the bullet wound. She was later released.

“I want to let everyone know that yes I am okay, my heart is shattered and my face is sore, but I’m going to pull through. Thank you everyone for all the love and support,” Price commented on Facebook. She also posted a photo of her injury.

“I’m okay y’all… and you guys have no idea how much u have lifted my spirit… I’m so blessed to have each and every one of you! But you don’t have to worry, God holds my hand. Love all of y’all.. gonna try to get some rest… ,” Price posted on Facebook, adding, “Truly favored && amazingly blessed……. there is nothing else I can say…. .”

Gulledge said no bond has been set for Flores at this time.

Flores had two other outstanding warrants from Rutherford County at the time of his arrest, for driving while impaired and misdemeanor probation violation, according to the booking report.
