Mrs. Della Mae Pope Dent, 78, of 769 Cheraw Road, Hamlet, died, Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Richmond Pines Healthcare, Hamlet.
She was born August 31, 1934, in Richmond County, daughter of Charles Douglas Pope and Tennessee Fields Pope.
She was preceded in death by her children Jean Carol Hughes and James Walter “Bubba” Hughes.
Survivors include Cathy Hughes and husband Mike Allen of Hamlet, Joy Hughes Norton and friend Donnie Horton of McColl, SC; 2 Grandaughters, Angelia Roper and Jill Turnage Veach, 4 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild
A Graveside will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at 12:00 noon at Richmond Memorial Park with Rev. Victor Robinson officiating.
We would like to say thank you to the nurses and staff at Richmond Pines Nursing Home formerly Britthaven for Mama’s 3 ½ years there. A special thank you goes out to the nurses in the Sparks Unit, Cherrie Fall, Betty Jacobs, Josephine Broady and Roberta Gordon. These nurses have all did there call of duty and more for mama. They have always kept us updated with everything that occurred with her and always showed their love to her and us. Mama truly loved them and we appreciate these ladies more than they will know.
The Family will be meeting at Cathy’s home at 301 Beeler Ave. Hamlet NC on Tuesday.
