Alton Clay Benoist, 82, of Rockingham, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at his home. He was born March 21, 1930 in Richmond County a son of the late, Charlie and Stacy Garret Benoist. Mr. Benoist worked as butcher with A&P until his retirement.

Funeral services will be conducted graveside Wednesday, November 21st at 1:00 pm at Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Russell Edwards officiating.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Conyers Benoist; and four brothers.

Surviving are his children, Alton Rush Benoist and his wife, Laura Dianne of Dallas, NC, Suzanne Benoist of Rockingham, and David R. Benoist and his wife, Roxanne of Rockingham; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Barrett of Rockingham, Wilma Gibson of Hamlet, Barbara Jarrell of Rockingham, and Mary McDougall and her husband, Frank of Conway, SC; and a brother, Johnny Benoist and his wife, Linda of Rockingham.
