Dear Editor,

This is a response to a letter that was written by one of our fine citizens in Richmond County. America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, is a place that I can and will call home. If it wasn’t for democracy Mr. Caudle, you wouldn’t be able to write your opinions on no one’s paper.

For citizens that call themselves Americans and throw rocks and jabs at other citizens because of their right to vote, is very well the same people that would like to take America back 100 years. The fabric of our society is built off of democracy, so if we choose to vote for who we want in office that is our right. You sound like America is done for because of the recent elections.

If you want to make America better maybe you should start by taking a look at yourself and see what you can do better to help our country. By the way, Romans were very smart and intelligent people, we still use what they used years ago to better America (i.e. Roman numerals, structures that are built to last). Try living in another country and then come back to America and see how beautiful this country of ours is.

O’Neil Patrick Jr.

Kevin1, yes I went to a public school. My family was not afraid for me to be with "those" other type students.

Patrick, I agree. America was the greatest country in the world, however, Obama has said that "American can't always be #1 and he is now on a mission to make sure of it.

We all need to take another look at the values and principles this nation was founded on. The Constitution and our history has been grossly ignored, for some time now. The constitution is a contract that would diminish much of the disagreements if we would adhere to it and demand that our leaders do so. If we had not lost much of our freedom under this administration, the health care would never have passed.

As Senator, Barak Obama opposed a health care bill, calling it a lack of leadership - I agree.

Kevin1, The ninth amendment cover the right to vote. The Supreme Court has found that unenumerated rights include, right to travel, the right to vote, the right to keep personal matters private and to make important decisions about one's health care or body. Also the 15th Amendment gives the right to vote as does the 19th Amendment.

We all know that everyone who carries a black bag or wears a white lab coat is not necessarily a doctor or nurse, attitude and care make nurses and doctors. Unfortunately you don't have the attitude.

Please go and read the supreme court's decision in Bush v Gore (2000), in their decision they plainly state that there is no right to vote in a PRESIDENTIAL election.

Mr. Kevin1, I must say that your commentary sounds a lot like sour grapes. Just as stated above, the electorate has spoken, and obviously your 'guy' didn't come out on top. It disgusts me to see the vitriole and hate showed toward our President. Now, I hear that there are several staes that want to secede from the Union. I say, go ahead and try it....I'm sure you will soon realize that Barack Hussein Obama and his Nation of Folks that 'want' stuff ain't so bad. SMH.
