The Rockingham Lions Club continues to raise funds to complete its two new softball fields on N.C. Highway 220 North and to support various Lions charities.
Recently, Rockingham Lions held their first annual Corn Hole Tournament and Golf Ball Drop. Joey Jones was the winner of the $1,000 prize for the Golf Ball Drop with Greg Bates the winner of the $100 prize. Andy Ashworth and Shot Allen were first place winners in the Corn Hole Tournament and pocketed the $400 grand prize. Proceeds from the first annual “Roar At The Rock” were more than $2,000.
Earlier in October the annual BBQ and auction raised more than $5,000. This year plates were delivered at lunch on Friday to local businesses and served before the auction on Saturday night. Items for the auction were donated by local businesses and individuals.
Now the local club members are selling pecans as they have done for more than 20 years during the holidays. If you need pecans for holiday baking, please contact any Rockingham Lions Club member or call 910-894-2807 or 910-895-5787 to place your order. Plain one-pound bags of shelled halves are available for $9 each or bags of chocolate-covered halves are $10 each. The club will be represented at Christmas on the Square in Rockingham with the North Carolina Lions Vision Van selling pecans and helping with free vision screenings.
Rockingham Lions would like to thank all those who have donated to these fund raisers and have supported the local club in all their efforts to bring about change in the community.
