LEE THEE AME ZION CHURCH, 428 Lee Thee Church Road, Rockingham, will have their Men’s Choir Anniversary beginning 6 p.m. Saturday, March 16 and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. All choirs are invited to come.

ST. LUKE #2 FWB CHURCH, 119 Morrow St., Dobbins Heights, will have a Baptism Service 9 a.m. Saturday, March 16. The church will also celebrate the 83rd anniversary with Rev. Daniel Scott and congregation of Ebenezer Missionary Church, Rockingham, 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17.

GREATER DIGGS AME ZION CHURCH, 1400 Old Cheraw Highway, Rockingham, will have a Senior Citizen Gospel Singing Benefit 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 16.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 329 West Avenue, Hamlet, will have a celebration for their 100th Missionary Anniversary 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. The guest speaker will be Rev. Darryl C. Carter, pastor of Ellerbe Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Rockingham. He will be joined by his choir and congregation. All missionaries are asked to wear white. The public is invited. The Rainbow Tea for Saturday, March 16, will be postponed until further notice.

EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH, will have “Who Can Top That Hat,” hat show 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 16. The speaker will be Sister Angela Bruton and host pastor is Daniel C. Scott. The public is invited. Hot dog plates will be on sale sponsored by the On The Move Committee.

HAMLET AGLOW LIGHTHOUSE, 513 Jefferson St., Hamlet, will have Reverend Angela Covington share her testimony and ministry, 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 16. She is a member of Providence Baptist Church.

TEMPLE CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST, 104 South Stewart Street, Rockingham, will be honoring Mrs. Oncie Terry 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. Come out and help honor her.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 329 West Avenue, Hamlet, invites churches and congregation to join in celebration of their 100th Missionary Anniversary 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. POPLAR SPRINGS MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, Rockingham, will celebrate Missionary Day 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. The Reverend T.J. Horne and congregation of Rock Hill Missionary Church, will be rendering service.

SWEET HAVEN CHURCH, will have Michael Wayne Smith in concert 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 17. Michael is a Christian singer/songwriter from Oak Ridge, Tenn. For the last few years he has primarily been know in the gospel music industry for his songwriting efforts. He is most notably known for the song “My Home,” recorded by the group Heirline.

STELLEYS TABERNACLE AME ZION CHURCH, will hold the Rockingham District Board of Ushers Anniversary 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. All ushers are to be in uniform. All are welcome to attend.

NEW LIFE CHURCHES OF DELIVERANCE, 410 3rd Street, Hamlet, will have a March Birthday Program 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. Special guest will be Rev. Robert Richardson of Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Rockingham. He will be accompanied by his choir and congregation. The public is invited.

ST. LUKE #2 FWB CHURCH, 119 Morrow St., Dobbins Heights, will have Rev. Charles Ellerbe will preach for the 11:15 a.m. service Sunday, March 17. Rev. Darrell McSween will preach for the 11:15 a.m. service on Sunday, March 24. The Sunrise service will be held 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 31, with Rev. Darrell McSween.

PEE DEE CONGRESS OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION, Dobbins Heights, will meet 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. All churches in the Association are invited to attend this training session. Acting Chautauqua Chairperson is Marie Deberry of Laurinburg. Mary Swann is the president of the Congress of Christian Youth.

SNOW HILL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 205 Snow Hill Church Road, Mt. Gilead, will celebrate the 118th Church Anniversary on Sunday, March 17. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. Morning worship starts at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Patrick bringing the morning message. Following the message, lunch will be served. Minister Patricia Patrick, associate minister of Smyrna House Ministries of Hamlet/Rockingham, will bring the message at 2 p.m.

PEE DEE BAPTIST CONGRESS OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION, Dobbins Heights, will host their annual Institute from Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22. The session will open each evening at 7 p.m. Highlights of the event include a workshop on churches working in the communities by Dr. Osco Gardin Jr., pastor of Elizabeth Baptist Church, Monroe, Healthy Eating and Wellness workshop presented by Cary Rodgers, a field coordinator with the National Council of Churches and Blue Cross Blue Shield grant programs. There will also be a workshop on Baptist Beliefs done by Rev. D.K. Ferguson, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Wilmington.

FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, Rockingham, will present Handel’s Messiah 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22. The choir is a combination of First United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Rockingham, along with friends of the community. The director will be Paul Chandley and organist will be Sophia Chandley. The Baroque-style oratorio is one Handel’s most famous works. Written in 1741 it contains the beloved Hallelujah chorus.

FAITH TEMPLE HOLINESS CHURCH, Rummage Pack House Road, Windblow Community, will have their Adult Choir Anniversary 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. Everyone is invited to the singing. MACEDONIA CHURCH OF GOD, 391 McIntyre Road, Ellerbe, will be celebrating the Pastor’s 4th Anniversary 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, and 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 24. The speaker will be Minister Roy Miller of Sidney Grove Church of Deliverance. The speaker for Sunday, will be Bishop Reginald Pharr of Faith Fellowship Church of God, Kannapolis.

THE RICHMOND COUNTY MISSIONARY UNION, will be having the first quarterly meeting of the year at First Baptist Church, 329 West Avenue, Hamlet, 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. CHAPPELL GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH, Ellerbe, will have a Rain Bow Tea 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Robert L. Dockery from Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Hoffman, along with his choir.

POPLAR SPRINGS MB CHURCH, Rockingham, will have it’s prayer breakfast 9 a.m. Saturday, March 23. Minister Darlene Ingram will be the morning speaker.

NEW BIRTH MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 121 New Birth Drive, Hamlet, will celebrate the church anniversary 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 24.

NEW DIGGS CHAPEL AME ZION CHURCH, will have the annual 12 Tribe Rally 3 p.m. Sunday, March 24. It will be sponsored by the Stewardess Board under the direction of Rosa King. The Evangelist speaker will be Martha Mae Gould of New Haven, Conn.

PASTORS UNITED IN CHRIST FELLOWSHIP CHURCHES will have Holy Weeks Services from Monday, March 25, through Friday, March 29 and on Sunday, March 31. Monday through Friday services begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday Sunrise service begins at 6 a.m. Monday’s guests will be St. Mary’s Holiness Church of Hamlet. HAMLET FIRST UNITED METHODIST will observe Holy Week with a Maundy Thursday communion service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, in the Chapel of the Education Building. All are welcome.

ABUNDANT LIFE CHURCH, 149 School St., East Rockingham, will have Picture Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30. Cost is $10 per sitting. All proceeds will go to help the group youth with their mission trip.

Deadline to register is April 5. An opening session with praise and worship will begin at 9:30 a.m. First Empowerment session begins at 10 a.m. These sessions have been designed for anyone in church leadership such as pastors, ministers, first ladies and deacons.
