If you suspect your child needs help in school, he or she may be eligible for 30 hours of free tutoring.

Tutoring is available for your child at no cost to you if he or she attends a Title 1 school in Richmond County, is in grades K-5, needs to improve their academic performance and receives free or reduced-price lunch.

Participating schools in Richmond County are West Rockingham Elementary Pre K-5, Mineral Springs Pre K-5 and Monroe Avenue Pre K-5. The service is provided by the educational consultant firm Academic Enrichment Services and Systems.

Tutoring is provided in math and reading. Parents can receive an assessment of the student’s progress, as well as feedback. One teacher tutors six children at one time. Tutoring takes place before or after school and/or on Saturdays.
