The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHHS) announced that Richmond Senior High School 10th grade student Kaitlyn R. Loftus from Rockingham has been selected for membership. She is the daughter of Kevin and Lisa Loftus. She has three older sisters and one brother. Loftus is the granddaughter of Linda Gerald and the late Rev. Danny Gerald and Dennis and Sally Loftus.

The society recognizes top scholars and invites only those students who have achieved academic excellence. Membership in the NSHSS entitles qualified students to enjoy a wide variety of benefits, including scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, member-only resources, publications, participation in programs offered by educational partners, online forums, personalized recognition items, and publicity honors.

The NSHSS encourages members of the organization to apply their unique talents, vision, and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world.

Loftus plans to attend college after high school and major in forensic science.
