Tuesday night at Anson, the Lady Bearcats returned the favor, defending their home court with a 25-17, 25-22, 15-25, 25-23 win over Richmond.
Richmond fell to 1-1 on the young 2010 season with the loss.
Richmond coach Michelle Denson said her team struggled from the outset.
“We just didn’t come to play tonight,” Denson said. “We had trouble with our serving in the first two games, and we fell behind.”
The Lady Raiders battled back to win the third game, but fell just short in the fourth.
A bright spot for the Lady Raiders was the defensive play of Melita Ingram.
Richmond hosts Marlboro County Thursday night. The J.V. match begins at 5 p.m., with the varsity to follow about 20 minutes later.
