One mark of a good team is its ability to rebound from a loss.

After a disappointing 7-2 home defeat by Butler Saturday night — the Raiders trailed just 2-1 at halftime — the Richmond Senior men’s soccer team shut out Mount Pleasant on the road Monday night, 5-0 to improve to 2-3-1 on the young 2010 season.

Monday night at Mount Pleasant, the Raiders took some time getting going, and led just 1-0 at halftime.

A halftime pep talk from coach Bennie Howard helped, and the Raiders found the net four times in the second half.

Davis Hilton had a pair of goals to lead the Raider attack. Jonathan Thames, Brandon Benoist and Peter Christensen added single goals for Richmond.

Saturday night against Butler, lack of communication on the field hampered the Raiders, Howard said.

“I saw some good things out there, but we need to get on the same page,” Howard said.

The Raiders return to action tonight at 6 p.m. with a varsity only contest at home against Anson.

After that, they are idle until next Tuesday, Sept. 7 when Forest Hills comes to Rockingham for a 6 p.m. varsity-only contest.
