Mrs. Edith Stogner Smith, 83, 413 Deweese Ave., Rockingham, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Rockingham Manor.

Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Richmond County, daughter of Oscar Louis Stogner and Amanda Ellen Langley Stogner.

She worked previously as a clerk for Belk Department Stores and was a member of First Baptist Church of Rockingham.

Mrs. Smith was married to the late Raymond Smith.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at 4 p.m., at Richmond Memorial Park with Rev. Jason Lutz officiating; burial will follow.

Survivors include her daughter, Patsy Smith Knorr and husband Kenneth of Rockingham; brother, Lewis T. Stogner and wife Jo Ann of Rockingham; granddaughter, Renee Knorr Russ and husband Jared, step-granddaughter, Brandy Knorr Curtis and husband Michael; four step- great-grandchildren, Garrett Ammons, Katie and Alyssa Curtis and Onadee Knorr.
