The newest addition to the Sandhills Medical Group is Dr. Montell D. Salary. The office is located at 125 Biltmore Dr. Suite 1 in Rockingham. He was previously located at 1021 W. Hamlet Ave., Suite 5 in Hamlet.
“I like living in small cities because the traffic moves and the people are very nice and welcoming,” he said.
Salary received his bachelor of science degree from Western Michigan University, where he graduated cum laude, and earned his doctorate of medicine from Ohio State University. He completed his family medicine residency at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio.
“Dr. Salary has an enthusiastic personality that is infectious,” said Kimberly Harrington public relations and marketing director for the Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet. “He is personable and enjoys building relationships with people and his patients.”
In other professional employment, Salary worked as an urgent care physician and as a hospitalist.
“From the business standpoint we are happy to have new doctors in our community,” said Emily Tucker, president of Richmond County Chamber of Commerce. “Doctor’s give back in so many ways and we are definitely thankful to have him.”
In his youth, Salary was a student who enjoyed various sports, chief among them being football. He is a Buckeye fan, and said he can be easily identified in the community as he is frequently draped in school apparel.
“Dr. Salary is already making a name for himself in the community,” said Mike McNair, Sandhills Regional Medical Center chief executive officer. “He is out meeting people and getting involved. ”
Salary said he is looking forward to working with young people and giving back to the community. He enjoys all things outdoors and long walks admiring God’s creations.
“I truly believe I made the absolute best decision by coming to this area to practice medicine,” he said.
“He is excited about his practice and is ready to make a difference in the lives of those who entrust him with their health care,” Harrington said.
He and his wife, Layla, are making their home in Rockingham with their son Montell Salary Jr.
“Dr. Salary gives the best care to his patients and gives them the options for their care,” said Malak Henson office manager. “He is friendly and cares about his patients and spends time with them.”
