The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office seized 370 marijuana plants Wednesday, the latest in several large seizures this year.
The plants stood about seven feet tall and were located in a forested area off Old Cheraw Highway.
“This marijuana seizure resulted from the hard work of the officers and the community getting involved in our fight against drugs on our streets,” said RCSO Maj. James Clemmons.
Based on tips given to the RCSO Vice/Narcotics team, the plants were spotted by a National Guard helicopter.
“The only way to win our fight against drugs is for the community to get involved in their own protection,” Clemmons said.
Around the beginning of June, the RCSO made several large seizures of marijuana plants totaling more than 60,000. The largest yielded more than 26,500 plants.
