Born in Rockingham, he was the son of the late Frank L. Pickett, Sr. and Mary Virginia McMahan Pickett.
Mr. Pickett was employed with Western Union.
Surviving are a sister, Virginia P. Hoge; nieces, Catherine Reilender and Mary Spreitzer; his cat, Smokey, a faithful companion; and many beloved family members and friends, including Marsha Ferguson, a very thoughtful and supportive friend.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, Greenville, S.C. with the memorial service following at 3 p.m. in the downtown chapel.
