Gale Ratliff Diggs, 59, of Stokes Road, Rockingham, died on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Willow Thomas and Patsy Ratliff, born Sept. 6, 1950 in Richmond County.

She graduated from Richmond Community College, worked as a youth counselor at Sandhills Mental Health and was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Ray Ratliff.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 6, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Church of God of Prophecy in Ellerbe with the Bishop Lomuel Stroman, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 1-7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Service in Rockingham.

She is survived by her husband Everett Archie Diggs; children, Everett Durrell Diggs, Archie DeShunn Diggs and Yashica Gale Diggs all of Rockingham; two step-daughters, Joyce Robinson of Raleigh and Wendy Nicholson of Hamlet; five brothers, William Ratliff of Rockingham, Charles Ratliff of Greensboro, Curtis Ratliff of Hamlet, Dennis Lockhart of Rockingham, Willie Thomas of Salisbury, and Hampton Covington and Darren Covington and sister Michelle Carter; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Nelson Funeral Service of Rockingham is in charge of arrangements.
