The Millstone 4-H Camp, Richmond County 4-H and Rockingham Rotary Club have come together to offer a leadership day camping experience to 30 youth ages 13 to 18.
Registration will be taken at the Richmond County Cooperative Extension Office located at 123 Caroline St. in Rockingham and the deadline is Tuesday.
Registration is limited to the first 30 teens to apply and through the support of Rockingham Rotary. The cost of the program is $10.
The 4-H Rotary Leadership Experience is a three day camping experience lasting from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 10-12.
During that span teens will learn about Rotary and the importance of volunteerism, while building leadership skills and participating in camp activities. During the three day experience, youth will: Develop communication and leadership skills, conduct a community service activity, make future plans to serve the community and hear from leaders in volunteerism in the community.
The event will be held at Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe and participants can take advantage of the opportunity to cool off by swimming, paddle around the lake by canoe, take aim at targets on the shooting range and encourage each other to conquer the high ropes course.
