PROVIDENCE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1120 E. Washington St. will celebrate its annual Homecoming Service on Sunday, Aug. 1 with Sunday school starting at 9:30 a.m. for all ages. The morning message will be at 11 a.m. by the host pastor, Rev. Lamont J. Johnson, Sr.. Dinner will be served in the fellowship hall immediately following the morning services. Nightly services will be Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Ulric Eley of First Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Newton, Va.

ST. MARY’S HOLINESS CHURCH of Dobbins Heights will hold a Friends and Family Day. Special services begin at 5 p.m. with guests Pastor R. Chris Brown and congregation of Sword of Truth Church, Bennettsville, S.C. Revival will begin at 7:30 p.m. nightly Monday and end on Friday.

GREEN LAKE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will be celebrating Homecoming with a former member and Richmond County resident, Rev. Roger Thrower . Roger’s parents are the late Thomas and Elizabeth Dawkins Thrower; his brother is T.K. (Tommy) Thrower of Rockingham and his sister is Mary who lives in Nashville, Tenn. Rev. Thrower will bring the morning message at 11 a.m. Rev. Thrower is the senior pastor at New Hope Foursquare Church in Fairmont, West Virginia. Lunch will follow the morning message in the fellowship hall.

SIDNEY GROVE CHURCH OF DELIVERANCE in Ellerbe will convene its services on Sunday morning August 1.

PLEASANT HILL A.M.E ZION CHURCH of the Galestown Community will have their homecoming services on at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Evangelist Christie McDonald of Last Days Deliverance in Hamlet.

SNOW HILL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH will start their Homecoming/Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Patrick bringing the morning message. Lunch will with be served after the morning service. Rev. W.H. Sturdivant, pastor of Parson’s Grove Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead will be the speaker at 2:30 p.m. Revival services will be Aug. 2-4 nightly at 7 p.m. with Rev. R.J. Ingram and his congregation of Freedom Ministries in Hamlet.

CARTLEDGE CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH located at 152 Ben Hudson Road, Rockingham will host “Backstage With the Bible: This Year VBS is Gonna Rock!” A VBS experience takes children to the ultimate concert experience each day to worship and sing with the Go Fish Guys. It also offers kids “backstage” access as they learn foundational truths such as the 10 Commandments, the books of the Bible, and how to be saved by grace through faith. Aug. 1 registration begins at 5:30 p.m. August 2 - 6, 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Dinner provided nightly. Ages 3 - 6th grade. An adult class will also be offered.

FRIENDSHIP MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH Hwy. 177 Dobbins Heights will have their annual Homecoming on with morning worship at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. J.L. McCullers. The afternoon worship service with Rev. Barbara Covington of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Rockingham is at 3 p.m. with her choir and congregation. Revival will start Wednesday August 4 to August 6 at 7 p.m. The guest speakers for the three night services will be Pastor Robert L. Dockery of Macedonia Baptist Church of Hoffman.
