The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office recently seized 10 marijuana plants in two separate incidents, one in Ellerbe and the other in Hamlet.
A suspect was arrested in the Ellerbe incident, but no one has been charged in the Hamlet incident.
Rene’a Walker Smith, 44, of Second Street, Ellerbe, was arrested and charged a felony count of manufacturing marijuana. She was given a $500 bond.
Smith was arrested after the RCSO Narcotics Team conducted a knock and talk investigation at her home, and reported finding two marijuana plants growing inside.
In the second incident, the RCSO Narcotics Team received information about marijuana growing in a wooded area off of Ridgeway Drive in Hamlet, according to reports.
Eight marijuana plants were found, cut down and seized, and no one has been arrested.
Other arrests reported by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office include:
n Samuel Thomas Callahan, 22, of Cardinal Drive, Rockingham, was arrested and charged with felony counts of first degree burglary and larceny after breaking and entering, and a misdemeanor count of injury to real property. He was given a $10,000 bond.
Arrest reports published in the Richmond County Daily Journal are copied from local law enforcement records. Except for people injured in motor vehicle accidents or reportable deaths, victims including people, businesses and institutions and their addresses are not included as a matter of newspaper policy. Reports include both arrests and criminal summons such as citations. The Daily Journal lists them all as arrests. People charged are presumed innocent until determined to be guilty by a court of law.
