A Rockingham teen is facing safecracking charges in connection with alleged thefts from a city business.

Joseph “Joey” Gage Anderson, 17, of Rogosin Street, Rockingham, was arrested and charged with two felony counts of safecracking by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. His bond was set at $20,000.

The business is located on Biltmore Drive in Rockingham and a relative of Anderson’s was employed there at the time of the alleged incidents, according to the Rockingham Police Department.

Anderson is accused of taking the money while visiting the relative at the business. The second individual has not been charged in connection with the incident.

Anderson is accused of using the key to open the safe at the business and remove money on two separate occasions.

The amount of money is unspecified in police reports.

Anderson’s first appearance in court is scheduled for Aug. 12.
