The Autism Society of North Carolina Richmond County chapter will meet on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the third floor auditorium of FirstHealth Richmond Memorial. Individuals will have a chance to meet emergency responders.
Special Visitors will be: Hamlet Fire and Rescue, Rockingham Fire Department, East Rockingham Fire and Richmond County Sheriff’s Department, Hamlet Police Department and Ellerbe Fire and Rescue and FirstHealth EMS.
“This will be a meet and greet and we will also do a round table so that questions can be answered if there are any,” said Emily Tucker, chairperson of the Richmond County chapter. “We want to make sure that they (attendees) feel comfortable with the personnel.”
The meeting will also feature a variety of “how to” lessons for Autism such as “Help Autistic Children with Transitions” and “How to Talk to a Child with Autism.”
“If someone isn’t a part of our chapter we still urge them to come,” Tucker said.
In the latter part of August they will offer some first response training provided by the Autism Society of NC and First Responders. Their next meeting is August 21 with
NC Senator William (Bill) R. Purcell to provide an update on the Autism bill.
