The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home-Chapel, Rockingham.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Prayer & Faith Temple COGIC at 1 p.m. with the Superintendant Garcia Mormon, Eulogist and Superintendant Tommy Legrand, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Rockingham.
Born May 1, 1960 in Rockingham, Mr. Stanback was the son of Pecolia R. Stanback and the late Clyde Isiah Stanback. He was the owner and operator of “God’s First Construction” for over 25 years. An avid sportsman, a master builder and his joy was “detail” work with wood.
Mr. Stanback enjoyed fishing, spending special time with family and friends and cheering on the LA Lakers.
Mr. Stanback was preceded in death by his dad, Clyde Isiah Stanback; three brothers, Andrew “Donnie” Stanback, Clyde, Jr., James Weldon Stanback and and two sisters, Sally Jean and Andrea Elizabeth Stanback; one nephew, Samuel Nakia Ingram.
He leaves to cherish fond memories; his beloved mother, Mrs. Pecolia R. Stanback of Rockingham; his wife, Christine Brown Stanback of Baltimore, MD; he is survived by one son, Master Quacy Stanback of Washington, District of Columbia; his godson, Master Jayden Edwards Stanback of Rockingham. He is also survived by four step-children; three step-daughters, Kquiana Rice-Smith, Tameka Rice, Tajauan Purnell; one step-son, Khajuan Purnell; three step-grandchildren; nine sisters, Joanne S. Kirby, Sandra S. Love, (Lewis), Kimberly Stanback (Micey), Lucretia Chambers all of Rockingham, Barbara S. Gales of Hamlet, NC, Julia B. Stanback of Southern Pines, Brenda Stanback Ingram (Sammy) of Candor, Carolyn Hendricks of Laurel, Maryland and Linda Stanback Patterson (Edward) of FortWorth, Texas. Four brothers, Johnny B. Stanback and Henry “H.L.” Stanback of Rockingham, Fred Douglas Stanback (Gloria) of Hamlet, NC and William Mark Covington of Hanover, Pennsylvania and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of loyal friends.
