Three teenagers have been arrested by the Hamlet Police Department in connection with several thefts in Hamlet, said Capt. Bob Steele.
He said the investigation is continuing and more arrests may be made.
Dexter Artrell Lindsey, 19, of Sedgefield Road, Rockingham, was arrested after a foot chase, Steele said, from a residence on Rice Street, Hamlet.
He was charged with five counts of breaking and entering, four counts of larceny after breaking and entering, five counts of injury to property and one count of resisting a public officer.
His bond was set at $20,000.
Steele said one business on U.S. 74 West, Hamlet, was broken into twice within a two-week period with $1,166.25 worth of alcoholic beverages stolen and $1,200 worth of damage was done to the store.
In another incident, at another store on U.S. 74 West a front window was broken causing $3,200 damage in which the suspect reached in to get $20 worth of cigars.
At another business on East Hamlet Avenue, Hamlet, $1,000 damage was done to a door jam, rear door and lock.
At an institution on Monroe Avenue, Hamlet, $3,267 worth of equipment was stolen but recovered. Some $40 in cash and jewelry was stolen and not recovered.
Walter Dial Melton, 18, Earle Franklin Drive, Dobbins Heights, was arrested on three counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering and three counts of injury to property.
Steele said the charges involve both incidents at stores on West Hamlet Avenue.
His bond was set at $5,000.
Michael Lamuel McIntosh, 18, Stewart Street, Rockingham, was arrested on three counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny and three counts of injury to property. Steele said the charges involve both incidents at stores on West Hamlet Avenue in which Lindsey and Melton were also charged.
McIntosh was released to the custody of his parents.
Steele said at least two more suspects are under investigation in connection with the incidents.
The amount of property involved in the five incidents is $4,393.25 with $3,267 being recovered, Steele said. Damage to buildings was $5,400.

Other arrests by Hamlet police include:
Timothy Arnold McLeod, 46, Carr Street, Hamlet, was arrested on warrants for failing to appear in court on misdemeanor charges of two counts of larceny and one count of misuse of the 911 system. Bond was set at $2,000.
Robert Lavorn Johnson, 34, South Bridges Street, Hamlet, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of larceny and two counts of second-degree trespass. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
Joseph Trayvonn Dryden Jr., 30, Piney Point Apartments, Hamlet, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of injury to personal property and communicating threats. Bond was set at $1,000.
Richard Wayne Chavis Jr., 30, Fairwood Road, Rockingham, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of second-degree trespass and disorderly conduct.
Daren Anthony Dawkins, 22, Charlotte Street, Hamlet, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of two counts of injury to real property, three counts of injury to personal property and giving fictitious information to an officer. Bond was set at $1,500.
