July 3

FOURTH OF JULY IN ELLERBE, Gates open at 11 a.m. and entertainment starts at 2 p.m. Fireworks at dusk. Presented by the Ellerbe Lions Club.

PRETTY AS A PEACH DERBY 2205 Derby Road in Ellerbe, will have homemade peach cobbler. There will also be free live music, family games, hand dipped ice cream, local crafts and artists and pony rides. There will also be a patriotic concert featuring Richmond County singer and songwriter John Webb beginning at noon.

FREE MOVIE sponsored by Arts Richmond, Rockingham Downtown Corp. and Rockingham Rotary, City of Rockingham Saturday 10 a.m. - Ponyo (G ) Richmond Community Theater, Downtown on the Square. Registration for Arts Richmond Kids Craft Camp will also be available.

SPRING HILL WESLYAN CHURCH will have a country breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. all you can eat for $4. The church is located off Hwy 38 on Spring Hill Church Road. For more information call (910) 582-5150, carry out plates are available.

July 4

FOURTH OF JULY IN HAMLET, Fireworks at dusk. D.J. David Adiemy will bring Shagging in the Park and Beach Music to Hamlet’s Fourth of July festivities Sunday. Music is set to begin at about 7 p.m. There will be tours of the Tornado Building by members of the Hamlet Business Development Association. There will be concessions, popcorn and soft drinks.

NATIONAL RAILROAD MUSEUM HALL OF FAME, across from City Lake in Hamlet, will be sponsoring a hot-dog sale from 2 p.m. until.

July 5

DOBBINS HEIGHTS TOWN HALL will be closed Monday for the holiday. Garbage pickup will be on July 6 and July 9.

RICHMOND COMMUNITY THEATRE announces sign ups for Young Peoples Theatre to be held July 5 to July 17.

ARTS RICHMOND KIDS CRAFT CAMP will begin and will go through July 9, and or July 12 through July 16. The ages are six years old to 12 and there is limited space. Registration forms may be picked up at Arts Richmond. Call 331-3654 or 206-1899 for more information.

FARMER TO FARMER TOUR: Blackberries and Blueberries from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Leaving by van at 8:30 a.m. from the Sandhills Research Station, 2148 Windblown Rd., Jackson Springs to tour two farms; cost $10 due that day. Pre-registration is suggested to ensure transportation by calling Cooperative Extension at 997-8255.

2010 CAPITAL HIGHWAY HIGH SCHOOL AND MONROE AVENUE HIGH SCHOOL reunion committee will meet on July 6 at 11 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Hamlet.

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Rockingham will have a free parent support group for parents of school age children with emotional and behavioral challenges. The group will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the upstairs conference room. Lunch is free. This is sponsored by Connections and Sandhills Center in collaboration with the Mental Health Association in North Carolina.
