Ruby Bruce was an activist for a better Richmond County. She will be missed.
She died Wednesday.
A nurse and former director of the Richmond County Home Health Agency, she was best known to many of us as a tireless advocate for an overall healthier community through protection of the physical environment and beautification to create a better mental environment for all of us.
To me personally, Ruby was always pleasant and personable but persistent. She stood up for what she felt was right and was not deterred by detractors.
If you felt you had a good cause, you would surely have wanted Ruby Bruce to be on your side, because she would stand by you and that cause.
In tribute to her memory, and in view of the threats to the environment which we face today, I would hope that our citizens will carry forward the ideals which Ruby demonstrated in her life and work as she did for a better, healthier tomorrow.
