A successful marijuana eradication season for local law enforcement continued Monday as the narcotic units from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Rockingham Police Department partnered for yet another bust.

Monday’s 67-plant seizure off Rich Drive on Highway 177 South doesn’t match the number of plants from several recent seizures, but these plants ranged from four to five feet, as opposed to the smaller ones from previous busts.

Arrested was Perry Butler, 16, of Rich Drive in Hamlet, who is charged with a felony count of manufacturing marijuana.

He was released on a written promise to appear in court.

“We’re continuing our fight against drugs in the community,” RCSO Chief Deputy Phil Sweatt said Monday afternoon. “If anybody sees any suspicious activity or wants to share information with us through the Richmond County Crimestoppers or the Sheriff’s Office, we appreciate it.”

“I’m really proud of the men from both the police department and the sheriff’s office out there doing this,” Rockingham Police Chief Robert Voorhees said. “Nobody wants to be outside doing this in this weather, but they do a good job.”

Monday’s seizure comes after a county record 30,000-plant seizure last week, and the bust of two other large fields in about a month. The total tally from the previous busts exceeds 60,000 marijuana plants.

What is going to be done with it now huh huh huh. If you wait till it dries enough to burn at the airport then you going to make the new school kids high. It will prolly take that long to dry and cure.
