Jewel Marie McDonald and Kyle Lee Melton were united in marriage by Pastor Mitchell Roller at 4 p.m. on May 22 at Sweet Haven Church in Rockingham.

Jewel is the daughter of Mike and Laura Dick of Hamlet and Greg McDonald of Rockingham. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Erlene McDonald, Larry and Carolyn Dick, Curtis and Joann Roberts, all of the Rockingham/Hamlet area, and the late James Deese. Kyle is the son of Lee and Wanda Melton of Rockingham. He is the grandson of Boyd and Betty Melton, Norman and Carolyn Gibson and Virginia Hinson, all of Rockingham.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a drop-waist satin gown with a beaded bodice and a skirt full of billowing gathers with a semi-cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of hydrangea, white roses, baby’s breath and ivy. Music for the ceremony was provided by Thelma Helms of Hamlet and Matt Carriker of Aberdeen. Carolyn Blue of Hamlet Florist provided the flowers.

Tiffany Nunn of Rockingham served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were McKenzie McDonald of Matthews, Whitney Byrd and Amber Chavis of Rockingham. The groom’s father, Lee Melton, was the best man and the groomsmen were Travis Melton of Wilmington, Sean McDonald and Michael Dick of Hamlet. Shyann and Calli Byrd of Hamlet were the flower girls and the ring bearer was Michael Riordan of Concord. Programs were given by Misty Lee and Bryan Lee of Hamlet and Vickie Chunn of Concord attended the guest registry. Erlene McDonald, grandmother of the bride, directed the ceremony.

The reception for the couple was held at the Cole Auditorium in Hamlet. Food and decorations were provided by Rick and Peggy Davis of Davis Catering in Laurinburg and music was provided by Jim Earp of Smithfield. The bride and groom departed the reception for a week-long honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico. After the rehearsal on May 21 the groom’s parents hosted a dinner for the bridal party at Liberty Place in Rockingham.

Upon returning from Mexico, the couple made their home in Wilmington, where Jewel works as a LPN at Wilmington Treatment Center. Kyle, who graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington on May 8, is currently employed by Harris Teeter.
