The event began with talent presentations. Each Cinderella showcased her talent for the audience. Their poise, grace and dedication, to their talents are qualities that have surfaced.
Jasmine Bennett did a praise dance to “Make Me Over.” Nikkita Bowden, sang “His Eye is on the Sparrow.” Maggie Chambers sang Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.” Kiana Ellerbe recited the poem “Someone’s Listening to Your Life Today,” by Janice Mack.
La Mesha Gould performed a mime to “Shackles.” Destiny Rush did a mime to Let us Worship.” Breanner Wall sang “Just Can’t Give up Now,” by Mary Mary. Laini Wright and her sister Danielle Wright dance to, “Speak to Me.”
The crowning of the queen is the highlight of the Cinderella Ball. 2009 Queen Jada Stroman performed her final duty as reigning queen and passed the crown to the this year’s winner Breanner Wall.
Breanner is the daughter of Datus and Annette Wall of Rockingham, and was escorted by Keion McDaniel of Rockingham.
As reigning queen, Breanner will participate in parades, Relay for Life and other civic and cultural activities.
The queen’s court included: Maid of Honor, La Mesha Gould daughter of La Arthur and Teresa Gould of Rockingham. She was escorted by Jordan Tyrell McDonald of Rockingham.
First Attendant Maggi Chambers daughter of Lester and Carol Chambers of Rockingham. She was escorted by Robert Timothy David II of Rockingham.
Second Attendant Jasmine Bennett, daughter of James and Sandra Bennett of Hamlet. Jasmine was escorted by Ajami Marks of Rockingham.
Third Attendant Kiana Ellerbe is the daughter of Clarice Harrington and Warren Ellerbe of Rockingham. Kiana was escorted by Willie Cordell Nelson of Rockingham.
Cinderella Nikkita Danielle Bowden is the daughter of Tanyeal Lilly and Preston Spencer Jr. of Rockingham. Nikkita was escorted by Tavon Roberts of Rockingham.
Cinderella Destiny Rush is the daughter of Anturian and Tamiko Rush of Rockingham. Destiny was escorted by James Noble of Rockingham.
Cinderella Laini Wright is the daughter of Darrell and Cathy Wright of Rockingham. Laini was escorted by Daryn Mason of Rockingham.
The participants have enjoyed a variety of activities that prepared them for this gala. The charm school was helpful in enhancing social graces, leadership skills and positive principals of living. The Cinderella Queen and her court receive savings bonds at the ball, and have marched and participated in the Martin Luther King Day of activities.
The participants and their escorts may apply for academic scholarship assistance upon high school graduation when enrolling in an institution of higher learning.
The culminating activity for the Cinderella Ball participants and their escorts is a day long trip to Carowinds.
