Mrs. Mary Frances Peele Coward, age 80, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1929 to the late Samuel P. Peele and Frances Stricklin Peele of Richmond County.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Coward, her brother, S. P. Peele Jr., her sisters, Louise Peele Garris and Lois Peele Snell.

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Coward and Cynthia Coward Cantrell, both of Fayetteville; and her brother, Dr. Roy Peele and wife, Brenda of Hamlet; she is also survived by her sister-in-law, Demetra Coward Presslar of Rockingham; her brother-in-law, Ret. Capt. Rhyne Garris of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010 in Northwood Temple at 4250 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC 28311. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Northwood Temple with Dr. John Hedgepeth officiating. Mrs. Coward will be laid to rest in Lafayette Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Humane Society in Richmond County at P.O. Box 2064 Rockingham, North Carolina 28380.
