Five doctors join Sandhills Surgical

Sandhills Regional Medical Center has expanded its services at Sandhills Surgical through the addition of five general surgeons.

Five board certified general surgeons from Pinehurst Surgical in Pinehurst now have privileges at Sandhills Regional Medical Center and will see patients at the office located at 108 Endo Lane, Suite 1, Hamlet.

The surgeons offer specialized skills to treat many conditions and diseases, including but not limited to, the digestive system, thyroid and parathyroid glands, gallbladder, gastrointestinal tract, esophagus, liver, stomach, pancreas and breast diseases.

Joining Sandhills Surgical will be the following:

Dr. Fabian E. Alzamora earned his medical degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Mexico. He completed both his internship and residency in internal medicine and general surgery at Prince George’s Hospital Center in Cheverly, Md. He specializes in breast diseases and breast cancer, colonoscopies and colon cancer, hernia surgery and gallbladder (open and laparoscopic) surgery. He will be in the Hamlet office on Mondays.

Dr. Amelia M. Jeyapalan earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pa. She completed her internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Texas, Southwestern, in Dallas. Her specialties include general surgery, breast care, incisional/inguinal/ventral hernia repair, sentinel lymph node biopsy, partial breast irradiation with mammosite, minimally invasive breast biopsy with ultrasound guidance, GI surgery, colon and rectal diseases, gallbladder surgery (open and laparoscopic) and thyroid surgery. She will be in the Hamlet office on Tuesdays.

Dr. R. Clayton Steiner is also board certified in Surgical Critical Care. He earned his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, and completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the same. He also performed a fellowship in trauma and critical care at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md. He specializes in general surgery, laparoscopic surgery, breast surgery, thyroid surgery and surgical critical care. He will be in the Hamlet office on Wednesdays.

Dr. David W. Grantham earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Wake Forest University, and also performed a fellowship at the same in advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery. He specializes in general surgery, breast surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery to include splenectomy, anti-reflux procedures, colectomy, adrenalectomy, cholecystectomy, laparoscopic hernia surgery, treatment of achalasia and endoscopy. He will be in the Hamlet office on Thursdays.

Dr. H. Willy Chu earned his medical degree from Duke University in Durham, and completed both his internship and residency in general surgery at Boston University Medical School. He specializes in laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, breast and colon cancers, hernias, in-office removal of skin lesions and dialysis surgery. He will be in the Hamlet office on Fridays.
