Hamlet Rotary and Vector Shirts played for first place in the 11-12 year old division of the Hamlet Recreation League Thursday night, and it was Hamlet Rotary taking the top spot in the league with an 11-5 victory.

Hamlet Rotary took a early 6-0 lead, until a grand slam off the bat of Cross Hoffert brought Vector Shirts to within two in the third inning.

However, the Vector Shirts offense stalled out after that, able to muster just one more run on a fielders choice.

Jamie Graham picked up the win on the mound for Hamlet Rotary, pitching five innings and allowing five runs while racking up seven strikeouts.

Nick Honeycutt was the offensive spark for the Hamlet Rotary squad, going 2-for-2 with an RBI, and swiping seven bases.

The most exciting moment of the night came when Dalton Leviner completed the rare inside-the-park home run, swinging the momentum in favor of Hamlet Rotary.

This Hamlet 11-12 year olds will have make up games this coming Saturday for the games that they missed due to rain over the course of the past week.

The league tournament will start after that, to determine who the recreation league champions will be this season.
