Raymond and Brenda Collins of Norman would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Lynn Collins, to Nana Boateng, son of Samuel and Grace Odura of Ghana.

Jessica is the granddaughter of the late Dennis and Henrietta Chambers of Windblow and Lottie Prince and the late Robert Prince of Philedelphia, Pa.

The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Richmond Senior High School and North Carolina Teaching Fellow. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2005. She earned her master’s degree in reading education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She is currently pursuing a PhD. in curriculum and instruction at Clemson University. She is also a graduate research assistant with the Upstate Writing Project in Greensville, S.C.

The groom-to-be is a 2000 graduate from Prempeh Academy in Queasi, Ghana. He received his bachelors degree in political science from the University of Ghana and master’s degree in sports leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Nana is currently pursuing a second master’s in business administration from Walden University online. He is currently employed as the head soccer coach for the women’s soccer team at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.

An intimate ceremony is planned for Dec. 10 at the Breakers Resort in Myrtle Beach.
