We have a problem now with deer on our highways and moving into town, stop the deer hunters, then watch the deer take over.

Next they will vote on fox hunting, coon hunting, bird hunting, rabbit hunting, squirrel hunting etc. Then there will be more animals then people in Richmond County.

The commissioners are not qualified to make this law. None of them hunt or fish. They all need replacing. Who is going to enforce this law? If they win, just take off the ID collars and tracking collars and turn the dogs loose. Then they can’t trace the owners. Enough.

rblackmon you stated:

"havent seen any dogs run thru the city of hamlet or rockingham. so how can you live uptown and gripe about hunting dogs trespassing????"

Well, that's right and the deer dogs don't run through Mr. Quick's .34 acres in Hamlet either. They run through the property of someone else outside of the city limits. Some poor landowner that will get hunted on whether they lease it or not!

Get real Danny! I had much rather face a deer on the hwy then a drunk hunter with a high powered rifle or his 8 year old son with a high powered rifle! I have faced many deer on the highway

of course I wasn't drunk nor was I driving 85 mpr. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To rblackmon:

We all understand what Mr. Quick is saying. He is trying to use a scare tactic to convince the citizens of Richmond County that they are going to be taken over by deer if dog hunting is banned. Not true, at all. And for your statement that still hunting went out in the day is an absolute joke. Landowners can't lease their land to still owners because it is being trespassed on by dog hunters and their dogs which ruin the hunting for the still hunter. The western part of the county which is banned from dog hunting is loaded with still hunters. Which state do you live in? Get informed, please, and face reality.

you are not understanding what Mr Quick is saying here. alot of hunters do not still hunt anymore. that went out back in the day. and yes he does belong to a hunt club and which one dont matter. hes saying if they vote to stop deer hunters that all these animals are going to be everywhere in your front yard, back yard or where ever else. because they are not being controlled anymore. hunters more or less control wildlife !!! how would you like a deer standing on the hood of your car when you get up in the morning? or raccoons or other animals taking over your garden. why dont you see the point !!!! and i havent seen any dogs run thru the city of hamlet or rockingham. so how can you live uptown and gripe about hunting dogs trespassing????

Mr. Quick exemplifies the mentality that landowners have to put up with. Deer hunters consider themselves above the law. It would be interesting to know what hunt club he hunts with.

As was stated earlier, the issue with the deer hunting is the hunter using dogs. Still hunters can do an excellent job hunting deer and if they aren't interrupted by dogs running by their stands and ruining the hunting, I'm sure they will do a much better job after dogs are banned. It is a plain and simple problem to describe. There isn't enough land in one place anymore to run dogs without trespassing and without infringing on the hunting rights of the still hunter.

I don't have a problem with a man running deer dogs thats his right; just donn't infringe on my rights! Deer hunting doesn't have anything to do with chasing deer with dogs. The problem is trespassing, the only way to prevent dogs from trespassing is to fence in your hunting land. If you have dogs its the owners resoniblity your keep them under control. I have bulldogs and its my responsiblity to keep them fenced in my yard, not my neighbors responsibilty to fence them out of their yard. I've been hunting for over 40 years and all you have to do is ask a dog man not to run dogs on your land; and he will be quick to tell you a dog can't read a posted sign.

How would they feel if someone turned out a pack of dogs at their house everymorning, remember its legal DOGS CAN NOT READ POSTED SIGNS! I spend over a $1000.00 per year on food plots, hunting license, land leases, etc. and feel I have the right to hunt without dogs trespassing. The deer population can be controlled much better still hunting. You can actually count the points on a deer and not just shoot at antlers or a blurr. Dog hunters say they use tracking collars to find their dogs and get them off of you land. The problem is they shouldn't be there in the first place! Mr Quick says just take off your collars and do what you want to anyway is this the answer? Laws are a part of civilized society to prevent people from infringing on the rights of others.

Fine example of an upstanding, tax paying deer hunter.

Banning deer hunting is not the discussion - just deer hunting with dogs.
