The North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics was in Richmond County this morning.

Members of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond County Emergency Medical Services, the North Carolina Department of Probation and Parole and the Hamlet Police Department participated in the event, beginning at the R.W. Goodman Bridge on U.S. 74, and winding up at Browder Park in Rockingham.

From June 4 through 6, nearly 1,500 athletes, 600 coaches, 500 family members and 800 volunteers will convene in Raleigh for the 2010 Special Olympics games.
