Community Unity Talent Show reaches cable television

Students who participated in the 2009 Community Unity Talent Show will now be able to see their performances on Time Warner Cable Channel 21.

Performances for students in grades K-5 will run through May 28, and performances for students in grades six through 12 will run next week.

Showtimes are 12 noon, 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Participants were broken into age categories, and the winners were as follows:

Kindergarden through second grade: first place, Donavan Steele of Mineral Springs; second place, Tre’Shawn Robinson of West Rockingham; and third place, Elena Hall and Jayla McDougald of Washington Street School.

Third through fifth grades: first place, Kasey Knight of Fairview Heights; second place, Jayanna Nicholson of Fairview Heights; third place, Timothy Newton of Monroe Avenue.

Sixth through eighth grades: first place, Cara Adeimy of Hamlet Middle; second place, Nic Bullard of Hamlet Middle; third place, Marianna Walker of Rockingham Middle School.

Ninth through 12th: first place, Marcus Crank and Montrelle Covington of Ninth Grade Academy; second place, Rakeem Love, Dante Bowe, William Ingram and Alex Dockery of Richmond Senior High; third place, Patience Wall of Richmond Senior High.

Next year’s event will be the 10th annual show. Students can look forward to trying out once again at their schools.
