Clayton McRae Henderson, 88, of Madison Heights, VA  passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, in Medical Care Center.

Born in Ellerbe on April 28, 1922, he was a son of the late Thomas A. Henderson and Katie McRae Henderson. He had served his country as a member of the U. S. Army during World War II, and was retired from the Virginia ABC Board. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

Clayton is survived by his wife, Clara V. Henderson; his daughter, Carole Henderson Bowen and her husband David of Goode; a grandson, David Clayton Bowen and his wife Heather; and two great grandchildren, Miles McRae Bowen and Sydney Renee Bowen. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Henderson Wooley of Lynchburg; two brothers, Robert Henderson and Richard Henderson, both of Ellerbe; and a nephew, Lawrence L. Lineberry, Jr. of Forest, and several nieces and nephews in North Carolina.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, in Virginia Memorial Park by the Rev. C. Douglas Pillow. Military Honors will be rendered by the Virginia Army National Guard and American Legion Post 16.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to one’s favorite charity.
