ASHEVILLE - Maethorn Brown “Babe” Tucker, 87, of 90 Alpine Way, died on Sunday, May 16, 2010.

A native of Buncombe County, Mrs. Tucker was a daughter of the late Wilbur L. and Bertie Duckett Brown. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Wilburn Terrell Brown, Riley Marshall Brown, Orville Dennis “O.D.” Brown, James Larry “Joe” Brown, and Jennings Duckett Brown.

Mrs. Tucker was a graduate of Leicester High School. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Embra A. “Tuck” Tucker, Jr.; three daughters, Sharon Woody Munn of Rockingham, Jerri Ann Tucker Mitchell of Mauldin, SC, and Joyce Tucker Neal of Asheville; son, Embra A. Tucker, III, of Woodfin; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Mrs. Tucker will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Black Mountain, with Pastor Lynn Webber officiating. Interment will follow in the Veterans Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 15 Overbrook Place, Asheville, NC 28805.
