“Travis and Cameron, both recent college graduates, will bring youthful exuberance to our staff,” said Rick Bacon, publisher. “It will be exciting watching them grow as reporters in Richmond County.”
Quick began working part time for The Daily Journal in March and has obtained a full time position upon her graduation.
Quick was raised in Richmond County and is a 2006 graduate of Richmond Senior High School. She recently graduated from Wingate University with a B.S. in Communications Studies. While in college, she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, the Managing and Features Editor of The Weekly Triangle, the Wingate University campus newspaper.
“I grew up reading The Daily Journal and it is exciting to now be working for a paper that I followed for so long,” said Quick. “The Daily Journal plays such a large role in the community and I am looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of it.”
She is the daughter of Jimmy and Debbie Quick of Rockingham. She is the granddaughter of David and Bessie Roller of Rockingham, and the late Harold and Katie Quick of Hamlet.
She will be a news reporter at the Journal.
Anderson, was born in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; where he lived until he was six and then moved to Randleman. He attended his freshman year of high school there before moving to Lumberton after his mother was transferred to the Lumberton Police Department.
Anderson graduated from Lumberton Senior High, and then left the area to play music for several years before coming back to the area to earn his bachelor’s degree. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a Bachelor’s in Mass Communications on May 8.
He will be a sports reporter at the Journal.
“Having a love for sports, and a passion to better understand every level of the games that are played have helped me with my newspaper writing and analytical skills that help in everyday life,” Anderson said. “I am thrilled to be a part of the Richmond Daily Journal as a sports reporter. The availability of the various sporting venues in the state help the economy and spark the interest in the various outdoor events that we have here. ”
Travis currently lives in Lumberton with his wife and two-year-old daughter on their family farm. He plans on relocating to the area.
