Raider netters top South View

The Richmond Senior men’s tennis team improved to 10-4 overall with a victory over the visiting Tigers.

At No. 1 singles, Richmond’s Max Wittek defeated Dominique Mercurio, 10-1; at No. 2, Alex Auman beat James Anderson, 10-2; at No. 3, Jonathan Thames beat Dylan Harless, 10-2; at No. 4, Andrew Wheeler downed Julio Capacetti, 10-4; and at No. 6, Cameron Page bested Kyle Warfel, 10-4.

Richmond’s lone singles loss of the night came at No. 5, where South View’s Blake Gravis topped Ryan Page, 10-7.

In doubles competition, at No. 1, Richmond’s Wittek and Auman beat Mercurio and Capacetti, 8-4; at No. 2, Thames and Page lost to South View’s Anderson and Harless, 8-3; and at No. 3, Richmond’s Cameron Page and Wheeler topped Gravis and Warfel, 8-3.

Richmond hosts Pinecrest today at 4 p.m.

Varsity Men’s Golf

Richmond Senior placed third on Monday in a Southeastern Conference meet at Riverside in Pembroke. Pinecrest won the meet with a 307, followed by Purnell Swett with 310; Richmond at 322; Lumberton at 337; Scotland at 340 and Hoke at 452.

Davis Hilton turned in the top round for the Raiders with a 77. John Dunlap added an 80, followed by Bennett Gardner with an 82 and Terry Brooks with an 83 to round out the top four scores for Richmond.

Richmond closes out the regular season next Monday at Pinecrest in Lumberton.

UGH!!!!! So many errors everyday. How hard is it to ASK someone a question before printing material in the paper? South View is the TIGERS not the Panthers as reported.
