Mother slipped away peacefully while at her home that she so dearly loved.
Alma was the daughter of the late Marcus Blaine Williams and Wilma Rose Williams.
She was also predeceased by one sister, Edna Coleman, and two brothers, Louis Williams and Edgar Williams.
Alma married Clay Oliver McRae on November 5, 1943. They were happily married for 42 years and were the parents of Ed McRae, Martha Herndon, and David McRae.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kristi Wagers, Steve McRae, Mica Way, Catherine Luckenbaugh, Michael McRae, and Ashley McRae; 10 great grandchildren; and sisters, Annie Laurie Cribbs and Lois Nuttall.
Mother loved working in her yard, picking up limbs and pinecones, raking, and tending to her flowers, especially her colorful zinnias.
She took great pleasure in taking care of the birds, always making sure that they had food and plenty of fresh water.
She loved holidays when her family would gather at “MaMa’s” house for a delicious meal and an afternoon of visiting and watching the children play outside. She enjoyed walking to the pond and skipping rocks with the grandchildren.
Mother will also be remembered for the poems that she taught to us.
We will never forget her sitting in her porch swing and reciting “Little Orphan Annie” and “How do you Like to go up in a Swing.” These are happy memories for us.
She would even see-saw with the children if she thought that no one was looking.
We will always cherish these happy times.
Although we are saddened, we rejoice that Mother is now at peace and the dementia that overcame her is gone.
It must surely be the most beautiful season of the year in Heaven.
Thank you mother for being the best for your everlasting love.
You will never be forgotten.
Ed, Martha, and David
