Dr. Terry Rae, a South African pastor and Director of Africa for Christ, will preach at Second Baptist Church in Hamlet tonight, at 7 p.m. Dr. Rae is an internationally recognized preacher and also serves as vice-president of the Baptist World Alliance. In addition he is the former General Secretary of the South African Baptist Union.

Pastor Rae’s work with Africa for Christ involves supporting church planters or pastors as they start new churches. Under his leadership over the past 11 years, Africa for Christ has started over 300 churches in several countries in southern, central, and western Africa. The South African Baptist Union has over 600 churches under its umbrella of supervision and support.

Dr. Rae is in North Carolina prior to his sharing his work with Africa for Christ and preaching at the North Carolina Baptist Missions Conference to be held on April 9-10 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. Second Baptist pastor, Chris Hawks, has arranged Terry Rae’s visit to Richmond County on Thursday and says that, “Dr. Rae is an extraordinary speaker ad his presentation on Thursday is a special opportunity for the people of this area.”

Second Baptist Church is located in east Hamlet on Fourth Street.
