Coulson will appear in the 2010 edition of “Guide to America’s Top Surgeons,” a publication available to consumers and corporate human resource departments.
The physicians selected for the guide are chosen based on experience, training, professional associations and board certification, using a point value system.
Surgeons that have accumulated a certain amount of points qualified for the list. This does not mean that surgeons who did not accumulate enough points are not good surgeons, but that they merely did not qualify for this list because of the points needed for qualification, according to the Consumers’ Research Council of America.
The Washington, D.C., based research organization provides consumers’ information guides for professional services throughout America. “It is our purpose to help educate and assist consumers in obtaining the finest professional services. We feel the list of top surgeons is a good starting point for you to find a qualified surgeon,” the group’s Website read.
Coulson, a vascular surgeon with Sandhills Surgical of Sandhills Regional Medical Center in Hamlet, is also a certified wound care specialist and is a panel physician at the Sandhills Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine.
Board certified, he is a graduate of Queens’ College of Cambridge University in England.
