A woman arrested Friday in Fayetteville is the last of four suspects taken into custody for the 2008 beating of a man near City Lake in Hamlet.

Tasheema Voneesha Wright, 18, Fayetteville, was arrested Friday for felony assault with intent to inflict serious bodily injury, misdemeanor common law robbery and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.

Christina Giles, Preston Dawkins, Chris Lloyd and Wright were all charged with the beating of a 20-year-old man over the Labor Day holiday at City Lake, according to Capt. Bob Steele with the Hamlet Police Department. The attack happened about 3:15 a.m. on Sept. 3, 2008.

Reports said that the victim was beaten to the ground and than kicked in the face. His clothes were ripped off, property stolen and the suspects left him naked.

He was transported to a Charlotte hospital for reconstructive surgery to his face, Steele said.

Wright was taken into custody by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office on outstanding warrants and transferred back to Richmond County.
