Editor,

A Few Considerations:

Here are a few real considerations for Richmond County voters to consider this election cycle.

Is the candidate out to line his or her own pockets or are they for the good of the county? Are they familiar with the Constitution and The Federalist Papers? Do they stand on the side of liberty? Have they made up their minds that government must control everything in which a population participates with soft tyranny? Do they know something about how a business or government should operate, or do they turn a blind eye to free market principles and the rules of economics? Do they respect the rule of law? Do they realize that a law passed is a freedom lost? Have they respect of the rule of law? Have they attended the mythical School of Hard Knocks, or are they fed from silver spoons?

One would do well to answer these questions and more from their prospective leaders.

Just because someone gets themselves elected to office does not mean that they are suddenly an expert on any given issue. In fact, one does not have to be an expert but they should definitely have core, guiding principles. These principles should be communicated clearly to the voters prior to the election.

I encourage the candidates to take a hard look at the county budget and look for ways to streamline costs.

Free, Is that your problem? Cracked? your nick and your view doesn't coincide.

And Bush a failure? Is that why he was elected a second term? The fall of the financial institution was due to rules that forced banks to lend money to people who could not repay...Guess what administration is responsible for that. Dodd, Frank, Clinton...do your research

I think Mr.Gerald makes a good case..often we dont know our candidates as well as we should look at our county commissioner race, we could potentially end up with some real "prizewinners"

running our county. Its a good guess that if you have not been sucessful in the business world that you probably should not have the opportunity to vote on critical issues that matter to our county, if you have garnered your success with illegal activities then what could we expect from you as a commissioner? We have these types of folks running, failed businessman, people that dont mind beaking the law. What we need is someone with high morales, integrety and the willingness to serve and listen. There are good candidates running be sure you know them and dont just vote because they have a (R) or a (D) beside them

What are you sputtering about? For every law passed a freedom is lost?? Where did that come from? Most laws provide freedoms, some do not but there need to be laws or the Wild West will be in place again. I must admit the short lived era, only 75 years, had good and bad points. Do you truly believe that candidates are aware and know the information contained in your questions? Everyone thinks they have the answer to the problems, and they might; however once in the "seat" they too need to pay for the band or can't get on the dance floor. Ms. Wheeler seems to favor the Coolidge rule, but then again he was a do nothing president who didn't support farmers and halted foreign trade. Guess we could go back to that again just to see how it goes. There is no magic pill to fix the situation. We are spending millions of tax dollars while Congress sits around performing mental masturbation on a health care reform bill that no one understands. There will always be unhappy people regardless so we might as well suck it up and move on to something else. Go Free2009 and Flowerdog!

You know the Bush Regime caused the problems of today. How can you expect President Obama to fix the Bush mess in one year!?! Get real.

Thank you, Mr. Gerald - everyone should copy those questions, put them in a safe place and refer to them during every election whether local or national. Apparently those questions were never considered during the nation wide elections of 2006-2008 which lead to the predicament we now find ourselves in.
