Dear Editor,

Wade and I Want to thank the Daily Journal for the front page coverage of our love story in “The Weekender” on Feb. 13. The article motivated many family, friends and acquaintances to congratulate us on the occasion of our 65th wedding anniversary. To those of you who have called, sent cards of contacted us in any way - Thank You. It’s really been another blessing of life to have this experience. We also appreciate the opportunity to express not only our romance but also our spiritual life together.

We thank the Lord for planning this wedding anniversary celebration through our children - not because we deserve any of it but because He is that kind of God.

There are a few things we would like to add to our story. We received a new call from the Lord in June 2007, to take the City of Hamlet for the Lord as part of the Great Commission. This call includes Rockingham, Ellerbe, Norman, Marston, Hoffman, Derbe and all of Richmond County, North Carolina, our nation and the world.

Some of you know about this and are still joining us in praying every day at 12 p.m. and midnight. The assurance He gave us to pray is still very real.

I really do appreciate the Daily Journal for when they do in our community.

One last thing - just a little correction to our Feb. 13 story. We were married in the First Presbyterian Church in Hamlet. Our Feb. 13 celebration was at Second Baptist Church in Hamlet during the morning worship service. Our party was at our house in Hamlet for a lunch prepared by our family.
