The Richmond County Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment approved a conditional use permit Tuesday night for a new day care facility.
The facility will be owned and operated by Aleacia Lambert of Pinebluff who has been operating an at-home day care.
Her new facility will be located on U.S. 1, north of Hoffman near the intersection of Leader Lane and Jason Lane. The site was last used as a manufactured/modular home sales lot.
During Tuesday night’s meeting Lambert addressed the board of adjustment and said she’d already had the building inspector and fire marshal out to approve the modular unit already on site for use as a day care facility. And as soon as she obtained zoning approval, Lambert said she’d be meeting with the Day Care Facilities department to get her new business registered with the state.
She said the facility would serve about 25 children and employ four or more people.
Board member Fred Morris said Lambert had done her homework and saw no reason why the board shouldn’t approve the day care facility.
With that, he made the motion to approve and the board voted unanimously in favor.
The planning board’s next meeting will be March 9 at the county administration building, located at 125 S. Hancock St., Rockingham.
