By all means, let’s help those that need help - the poor, homeless, disabled or otherwise unfortunate
If someone is truly in need and trying to help themselves he/she has all the support I can give. But some that say he or she needs help are just looking for a handout not a hand up.
An able person can find honest work doing something. It may not be to his or her liking, but a honest dollar can be made.
A man can wash windshields in a parking lot with an investment of $5 for a bottle of Windex and a roll of paper towels. Don’t harass people just clean the cars windows. He can buy a rake at a yard sale for $1 and for $3 to $5 a box of trash bags and rake yards.
A woman can clean houses or babysit.
Neither will get you rich but an honest dollar can be made. Get out and find work. You may have to be creative. Use your brain and think of something that no one is doing, do it better and cheaper. Ask people if they need the work done, if the answer is no — accept it. The answer may be yes the next time. Do a good job and you will be remembered. Do a bad job and you will be remembered for that also.
For the homeless, you can find work too. Keep yourself presentable, don’t give anyone a hard time and don’t be a begger.
For the disabled — how disabled are you? Do you keep your doctors appointments? Do you take your medication as prescribed? Do you get any exercise? Do you do as much as you can to help others to take care of you? If not you had better change your priorities.

Mikey - sounds as if your dad raised you right.
I know what we should do, require those homeless people and those less fortunate to take literacy tests before voting!
Just when I think the "shock and awe" of you folks can't be topped, you do it again!
Bobby, could you open up a place for the homeless to keep "presentable" since you are so passionate about it? Some showers, washers, toiletries, etc... would all be essential to helping them keep "presentable". I would certainly hate to see them resort to begging for a shower, it would be too upsetting for you.
I like your post Bobby, reminds me of when I was 11yo and I wanted something or another. Instead, my dad gave me a gallon of gas and his old Briggs and Stratton push mower. First time I learned how to earn a buck and will never forget it.
